2024 Winnebago View – 24T

RVs are always evolving. Manufacturers make changes to draw in new customers, and over time, as those customers’ tastes change, so do the RVs. The other element of design changes concerns what is available to manufacturers – with motorized units in particular. Bus and van suppliers introduce new products, and the RV industry quickly adapts. Take the Class C motorhome, for instance. This market was owned by the Detroit builders for decades – supplying cut-away commercial vans that were then built out as Class C’s. Selection was limited, and handling characteristics were poor. Then, the European commercial vans arrived. These initially opened up the market – mainly to Class B upfits. Now heavier, dual-wheel chassis are also being used for Class C’s. These units can be had with diesel engines, and overall, they drive so much better than the over-built Class Cs of yesteryear.

I mentioned customer tastes (and, by extension, wants). Today, an RVing segment intends to travel more than sit. They also want to do it in a unit that makes no compromises on interior appointments yet is relatively smaller than what they’d owned up to that point.

Winnebago is never far from the forefront when it comes to identifying a need and than offering a unit that fills it. To that end we’ll have a look at the Winnebago View.

The View is built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis. This RWD platform features a 2.0L high-output, turbodiesel 4-cylinder engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and a 250-amp alternator. Note that there is an optional 4WD version available as well for getting off the beaten path.

The View has been in production for a few years, but this year it offers a new version – the 24T. The key improvements are a small slide-out that houses a fold-down Murphy bed – over the salon couch – or power-reclining theater seating. This design feature frees up space at the rear of the unit which is uses for a rear garage with a large outside door for gear. So, how big is it. Well, it will take two full-size bikes and still have room left over. The over-cab space, in this version, is also used for storage.

However, with the 24T you can opt for a low-profile front cap, which provides secure latched storage above the cab that’s accessible even when the slide is in. For the adventurous RVer who takes their toys and gear with them this is ideal.

Some other standard features on the 24T include an Entertainment Package, an innovative LP/Induction cooktop and eye-catching cabinet details. There is also a residential wardrobe and a pullout pantry.

To increase the number of days you can take a View off-grid Winnebago has included lithium batteries, solar panels and a 2000W inverter. They also claim industry leading holding tank sizes.
