Let’s start with an oldie but goodie: Skype. This tried-and-true app has been around for a while, making it a familiar option for many.

Skype allows you to video chat with individuals and groups using your smartphone, laptop, or tablet. The app also offers voice calls and instant messaging features. Skype is free, with some paid options available if you want more features.

Zoom

Since 2020, Zoom has become a popular video conference call app. Many businesses adopted its easy-to-use technology, but Zoom isn’t just for work meetings.

Zoom is free to use and allows you to connect with individuals or groups of up to 100 users, with video and voice. It’s also got several features that make it one of those handy apps for RVers, like mute buttons, chat, the option to share screens, and more.

WhatsApp

If you’re driving south across the border and don’t want to rack up those (expensive) mobile roaming fees, download WhatsApp. This popular app lets you send unlimited text messages, hold voice and video calls, and send pictures, all using WiFi.

WhatsApp can be used by anyone with an internet connection, so it’ll work on an iPhone, an Android, a Mac or a Windows PC. Best of all, it’s free, so you can stay connected wherever you go.

Facebook

Did you know that you can use the Facebook app to stay connected? Of course, you can post about your trip and follow family and friends, but you can also use Facebook Messenger to chat directly.

This app lets you send texts and chat straight from the app on your smartphone. You can also use your laptop or tablet to access Messenger through the Facebook website.

Instagram

Want to share all those beautiful pictures you’ve been taking of your RV adventures — and of all those delicious holiday treats you’ve been enjoying? Then download Instagram to your smartphone and start posting!

This popular social media app is designed to let you share photos, videos, and a bit of text, too. You can also use the app to video chat with a small group of people… from anywhere in the world.

A big part of holiday fun lies in sitting around the table playing games. Don’t miss out just because you’re on the road!

The Houseparty app lets you play online games with friends and family from anywhere with an internet connection. Just plan to log in at the same time and meet your loved ones for some fun games like heads-up and trivia.
